Red Ribbon Week

Parents,

Good morning! Yesterday was great seeing everyone in their red to kick off our Red Ribbon Week! Today is wear your favorite White Oak or college shirt!

We wrote in our planner yesterday, but I just wanted to say again that we did not get new spelling words this week. We will not be having a spelling test until next week. Look for new words on Monday!

For our readers this week, we are doing fun Halloween reader’s theatre stories. We read The Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything and The Hallo-Wiener and now are practicing those together. What a fun way to enjoy our Halloween week and practice our fluency and speaking!

We are starting place value this week. We will begin review of tens and ones. We do a lot of things with place value, so be looking for that in homework and other work in the upcoming weeks!

Parents,

Tomorrow is Homecoming!! Car pick up students will be dismissed at 1:15. Buses will run at 1:30. The pep rally will be at the football stadium at 2:30. Students are allowed to wear their mums and garters to school but will be taken off and put on my table during the day so they do not get messed up! If your child will go home differently than normal tomorrow, please leave me a voice message or leave a note in the planner. It’s such a fun time to be a Roughneck! I hope you all enjoy the fun homecoming festivities!

Remember, no spelling test tomorrow. Continue studying the same spelling words for next week. We will take a spelling test next Friday, October 23rd.

Monday, October 12th

Today we had a good today. We have now speling words in our planner. – Madison

Parents,

You child has math homework and a new fluency poem in their folder for this week. Math homework is due Friday. It is one page, front and back. The fluency poem can be documented on the reading log or you can initial it on the actual page and turn it in on Friday for tickets. Either is great!

The new spelling words are written in their planner. **One change for this week: we will not take a spelling test on Friday. With it being Homecoming, we have decided to wait a week to take the spelling test on these words. So your child will have the same spelling words this week and next week!

Our class has been working so hard these past few weeks. I am very proud of each of them. I know you are, too!!

Parents,

I apologize for getting this out so late this evening! Reminders:

Tomorrow is picture day! An order form came home today in your child’s folder. Please send that back tomorrow if you plan to order the pictures. Even if you aren’t ordering any pictures, you child will still get their picture taken for the yearbook. Tomorrow we go to P.E., so I told the class that they could bring clothes to change into after pictures if they wanted or needed to!
