Tomorrow we have a benchmark!

We will start on it tomorrow morning! – Madison

Parents,

We do have our end of the year math benchmark starting tomorrow morning. This is a cumulation of all the math skills the students have learned this year. We had a good math review this afternoon. I know each student is prepared for this. Eat a good breakfast and encourage them on the way to school.

Our CHAMPs assembly is Friday morning at 8:00. Please make sure your child will be on time that day. We are presenting with the PreK class. It’s going to be very cute. Every child has a speaking part. That part was sent home in your child’s folder. Please practice those this week!

A fluency page was sent home but no more math homework!!

How do we only have 9 days of school left?? I am so proud of each of my students! We have a lot left to do, so keep up the good work!

Monday, April 18th

Today we did a sorting paper about 2d shapes and 3d shapes. Sophia

Parents,

We will not take a spelling test on Friday. Later in the week we will get next week’s words in the planner so you can begin studying for next week since we have a short week next week.

If weather permits, we will have a field trip THIS FRIDAY! We will be going to Penick Park to celebrate Earth Day. Please see your child’s folder for the information and permission slip. These need to be returned by Wednesday, please!

Also, that morning, please join us in our classroom for the presentations of the recycling projects! We will watch all of the projects before leaving for the park!

If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me!

Wednesday, March 23rd

Parents,

Tomorrow is our Easter party from 12:00-1:00. We will be hunting eggs, weather permitting, and then will come back to the room for snacks and a game, if time permits. If you agreed to either make plates or hid the eggs, you can be here at 11:45 to help with that. Thank you so much! If the weather does not allow us to go outside to hunt, we will do the best we can to have a fun hunt in the room!

Tomorrow is also picture day! I told the students today that they may bring a pair of clothes to change into if they would like. Just put them in their backpack, and as soon as pictures are over I will let them change. If you haven’t sent back the selection form for pictures, please do so tomorrow!

Wow – tomorrow is a busy day! Report cards will be sent home tomorrow. Please keep the report card, sign the back of the cover, and return it on Monday morning.

Friday is a holiday in observance of Good Friday. I hope your family has a wonderful Easter weekend!

Tuesday, March 15th

Parents,

Tomorrow morning we will take our short field trip to the landfill and the recycling center. We will be leaving no later than 8:30 and will return in plenty of time for our regular lunch time. We are really looking forward to the students seeing first-hand about the landfill and about how materials are recycled.

A note came home today about our chocolate bunny sales. The chocolate was delivered today. You will be able to pick your child’s order up on Thursday!

We have enjoyed seeing all of the leprechaun traps and homes/work places! Thank you for all of your hard work over Spring Break!

Thursday, March 3rd

Parents,

Three important notes are in your child’s folder today. Please take time to look at each one of them.
– The SMALL YELLOW NOTE is a reminder that next week is Spring Break. It also lets you know that March 24th is picture day as well as the Easter party. March 25th is Good Friday, and we will be out of school that day.
– With St. Patrick’s Day coming soon, we are giving you and your child a chance to create a leprechaun trap to bring to school. It is all explained in the GREEN NOTE. Please look over that note. It is not a requirement, but I know the kids are excited about it! Your child can bring them to school on Monday, the 14th.
– The YELLOW NOTE is the most important. The week we come back from Spring Break we are starting our recycling unit. To jump start this unit, we will be taking a trip to the landfill and recycling center in Kilgore. We will go Wednesday, March 16th. Please read the note for all of the information. We are asking that you sign and return the permission slip TOMORROW, FRIDAY, MARCH 4TH. We are wanting these back before Spring Break so we can be prepared for our trip.

If you have any questions about the notes, please feel free to call or email me!

Poetry with the 5 Senses

IMG_0706

Yesterday we sat outside and observed the rain falling on the playground. We talked about our 5 senses and the rain. What do we hear? What do we see? What do we feel? What do we taste (if we were out in the rain)? And what do we smell? After we sat outside under the awning writing words or phrases about the rain and our senses, we came inside and wrote poems about the rain. Some wrote an acrostic poem. Some wrote a shape poem. Some wrote a simile poem. Those poems will be sent home next week. We are doing a great job writing poetry!
