Lots of information today! First, please take a moment to look in your child’s folder. Reading log, a new fluency page, and a note from Mrs. Koonce came home today. Also, I sent home your child’s conference note. Please look over this and read my comments. If you have any questions about your child’s conference form, please feel free to call or email me. I will be glad to answer them.
I’m sure your child told you, but we did not take a spelling test on Friday. We had some fun Halloween activities planned. So, we have the same spelling words this week. We will take a test over these words on Friday!

Ask your child about our reader’s theatre presentations today! We visited a Kindergarten class and read both The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything and The Hallo-Wiener to them. All of my students did a fabulous job reading their parts and working on their fluency and expression!
What a great Red Ribbon week we have had! Look for pictures to come tomorrow. Reminder that tomorrow your child can wear their Halloween costume. Please make sure that it is in dress code. Masks, full face paint and props are not allowed. I’m looking forward to seeing all of my kiddos dressed up!
Today report cards came home. Please KEEP the report card. Sign next to the #1 on the back of the cover indicating to me that you saw the report card, and just send the cover back! I will be looking for those tomorrow.
Just FYI, Tuesday, November 11th, is early release and parent conferences. Please look for those notes to come home early next week.

There is also a note that you need to look at and sign for an oral health activity taking place on Thursday. Please make sure that is sent back to school tomorrow!
Today is the last day of the 1st 9 weeks of school. Time flies, doesn’t it?? Report cards will go home next week. It has been a great 9 weeks! 🙂
This week we learned a new game called Collect 50 cents and a new math game called Counting Coins. We had fun these three days, and it will stay this way. Nobody has got on red yet. everybody has been good this week. – Carson

Pumpkins are due next week. We can’t wait to display them for everyone to see. Please make sure they are decorated as a character from a story book. Also, please remember to not cut into them so they won’t spoil!

Today an orange note is coming home from the second grade team about a pumpkin project that your child can participate in. If you allow your child to participate, please sign the paper and send it back tomorrow. When you send it back I will send home a small pumpkin with your child. The project is to decorate it as your child’s favorite character from a story! The directions are on the paper. If you have any questions about it, please email or call me!
A new fluency paper came home today. When your child reads this at night, please add it to the reading log with the book they read that night!

We learned that bats can hang from their feet, and that they can grab fish out of the water with their feet as well. We also learned that certain bats eat fruit. – Jaidyn

We will not have a spelling test tomorrow. Since I was out Monday at a workshop, the students only had the words for 4 days. So, we will continue practicing these words but will not have a test. New words will come home Monday.
Math homework came home tonight – practicing coins and number strings! Make sure to read tonight, too!

Quite a few things came home in folders today – book order forms, a new fluency practice page, math homework, and reading log. Please complete the reading log and math homework and send back tomorrow. Practice the fluency page all week! If you write in on our child’s reading log Thursday night, I’ll give them a ticket Friday morning for doing it! Book order forms are due Friday. PLEASE NO CASH! Checks only!
Today two White Oak firemen came to visit our classroom. You will see a new maroon backpack coming home today with fun activities for you to do with your child. They also got a red, plastic fire helmet! Tomorrow night I will send home some homework from the firemen that is due Friday!
