This morning we are going to read a different kind of version for the three little pigs also we are going to go to the library. – Jaaliyah

Parents,

We have settled right back into our school routine and have been learning a lot of new things!

Last week we read and compared different versions of the fairy tale Cinderella. This week we are reading versions of The Three Little Pigs. Ask your child to tell you some attributes of a fairy tale!

We started letter writing. The five parts of a letter are the heading (date), greeting, body, closing, and signature. During Writer’s Workshop, students are writing letters to different people.

We are learning how to write contractions. The apostrophe is the key! It takes the place of the missing letters: can+not=can’t  do+not=don’t will+not=won’t.

In math we are practicing addition with regrouping, working on reading data from graphs, and getting ready to start double digit subtraction to prepare for regrouping.

Don’t forget that Monday is a holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
